LSR publishes fiction and non-fiction, poetry, and book reviews. While we accept submissions all year round, cut-off dates for submissions for an issue are:
February Issue: January 15th
April Issue: March 15th
June Issue: May 15th
August Issue: July 15th
October Issue: September 15th
December Issue: November 15th
Entries that reach us after the cut-off date will be considered for the next issue.
Send in your entry in a word document or in the body of an email to email@example.com. In the subject of the email, please specify which category your submission belongs to: Fiction, Non-fiction, or Poetry. Besides written work, we are also looking for art for LSR covers and to accompany some of the selected entries. Please mention “Art” in the subject line for such submissions.
For fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, unsolicited submissions are welcome; however, we will only publish book reviews for the titles selected by the LSR team. We welcome simultaneous submissions but please inform us if your submission gets accepted elsewhere.
The entries would be shortlisted by the LSR team. If your entry(ies) gets selected, we would contact you via email. LSR do not offer any remuneration, monetary or otherwise, to the selected entries. The LSR team will not share their reasons for rejecting any entry or provide any feedback. However, LSR would never publish anything without informing the entrants.
Please read below for more details on what are we looking for in each category.
Original, unpublished (online or in print) short stories are welcome. Length of the story can be anything from 1000 to 3000 words. We are looking for well-written fiction and welcome writings that make us think.
Original, unpublished (online or in print) articles are welcome. Optimum length is 800–1,500 words. We welcome thought-provoking articles that deal with themes relevant to literature, art, and/or society in general. Articles that are written with the intent of creating a controversy will not be accepted.
Send us up to 3 poems (original and unpublished), each no longer than 40 lines. We welcome imaginative work that is layered in meaning and has rhythm at its core. Our only rule is that it needs to be writing from the heart.
We do not accept unsolicited book reviews. Our Book Review Editor will be selecting and reviewing two books in each issue. If you want to bring a particular book to our attention, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we might consider your suggestion. But the decision rests with the editorial team and their decision will be final.
